School Leaders Forum
Presented by The Lola Stein Institute
The School Leaders Forum is a remarkable opportunity for school lay leaders to engage in text-based study with leading scholars from the Shalom Hartman Institute. The premise is that committed volunteers in Jewish schools live Jewish lives and guide Jewish children, yet often miss the time and space to reflect personally on the foundations of their own Jewish identity and lifestyle.
The seminar is open to board and committee members of Jewish day and supplementary schools and will meet in six evening sessions across the 2019-2020 school year. The seminar model follows that of the Senior Educators Forum soon to begin in its 10th successful year: learning for the sake of learning.
Thoughtfully Jewish:
Reflections on Faith and Ethics
Curriculum 2019-2020
The Forum this year will delve into Jewish questions of ethics and faith.
What is the heart of ethics from a Jewish perspective? What does it mean when Jewish thinkers talk and write about concentric circles of ethical obligation? How does a life of faith proceed when dogma and relationship bump against each other? Can faith be a way of life rather than a one-time decision? And where does doubt fit in the picture?
Ours is the kind of conversation that will inspire and support your efforts.
