Learning Forums with The Shalom Hartman Institute of North America
Presented in Toronto by The Lola Stein Institute
The Senior Jewish Educators Study Forum is the premiere study program for senior educational leaders in the North American Jewish community. The program brings serious learning and ideas to educators, bridging Jewish values and texts to the challenges of contemporary Jewish life and to the leadership challenges that participants face.
The need for ongoing Jewish educational professional development for Jewish educators is recognized by field-leaders throughout North America. Educators nurture Jewish identity and convey Jewish knowledge to generations of children. As much as the educators' own passion for Jewish learning stems from personal convictions, the more they deeply engage themselves in the burning questions facing contemporary Jewish life, the better equipped and motivated they are to engage their students.
The School Leaders Forum is a remarkable opportunity for school lay leaders to engage in text-based study with leading scholars from the Shalom Hartman Institute. The premise is that committed volunteers in Jewish schools live Jewish lives and guide Jewish children, yet often miss the time and space to reflect personally on the foundations of their own Jewish identity and lifestyle.
The seminar is open to board and committee members of Jewish day and supplementary schools and will meet in six evening sessions across the school year. The seminar model follows that of the Senior Educators Forum: learning for the sake of learning.
